Celebrate the Melbourne Cup at Palace Hotel in Sydney’s Haymarket

Palace Hotel in Sydney’s Haymarket is the place to be this Melbourne Cup Day with its large high definition flat screen to watch the race, a delicious brasserie menu, a wide range of exciting prizes and a complimentary bottle of bubbly for bookings of four or more.

On Tuesday 6th November, Australia’s major Thoroughbred horse race will take place, with celebrations at Palace Hotel commencing at 12 noon and continuing until the conclusion of the race, shortly after 3pm.  Lunch can be ordered from the Hotel’s popular brasserie menu, and there will be racing sweepstakes, a lucky door prize, and prizes for the best dressed lady and best tie for men.

Palace Hotel General Manager, Marcus van Vogt, said this Melbourne Cup event is a wonderful opportunity to organise a group of friends or work colleagues to dress up and enjoy all the action and drama of ‘the race that stops a nation’.

“Even if you don’t know anything about the horses racing, Melbourne Cup is a great excuse to have some fun with friends, have a punt on which of the horses you think will win or take your luck with the Sweepstakes.”

Palace Hotel is located on the corner of George and Hay Streets in Sydney’s Haymarket.  Following an extensive refurbishment last year, the decision was made by the Hotel’s owners, Metro Hospitality Group, to revert to its original name, Palace Hotel, in recognition of its 135 year history.
The Hotel is an important landmark in Sydney, and the charm of its history, combined with the warmth created through its restoration, provides a unique dining and drinking venue.

Food is served in the bar from 11am until late every day.  The brasserie is open for lunch from 12pm-3pm Monday to Friday and for dinner from 6pm. On weekends, the brasserie menu is available at any time during the day until late.

Reservations for Melbourne Cup at Palace Hotel can be made by contacting the venue on 9212 2111 or by visiting the website, www.palacehotelsydney.com.au.

Enjoy the Spirit of Christmas with a Festive Lunch at the Palace Hotel

Christmas fare is on the menu and guests are invited to enjoy a modern twist on traditional fare at the Palace Hotel in Sydney’s Haymarket, a fixture in Sydney since 1877.

With the advent of warmer weather, Sydney is on a fast track to December 25 with department stores dressing their floors with festive cheer, Christmas trees ready to be erected around the city and shoppers starting to tick off their Christmas shopping lists.

From December 1st, the Palace Hotel is inviting diners to take a moment to enjoy the season with a special festive two course luncheon menu – which includes a complimentary glass of champagne or wine.

The two course menu offers a selection of tempting mains such as Crispy Skin Salmon, Slow Cooked Pork Neck and Chicken Ballotine. Guests can then choose from Pavlova with Mixed Berry or Christmas Pudding with Vanilla Ice cream for dessert.

The Christmas Luncheon menu is priced at $45 per person and includes a glass of house wine or champagne.

“Christmas should be a time when families and friends take time out to enjoy each other’s company,” General Manager, Marcus van Vogt said.

“The Hotel has been serving Christmas lunch to guests in Sydney for 135 years. We want to continue to provide a place where people can get together and enjoy quality modern food at affordable prices, and enjoy time with friends and family.”

Marcus said the set-price luncheon was also a great option for businesses wanting to organise a staff lunch, either as a social occasion of work Christmas party.

“The Palace Hotel is conveniently located on the corner of George and Hay Streets in Sydney’s entertainment precinct and a great place to kick off your work Christmas festivities,” Marcus said.

The Christmas Luncheon offer is available until 23 December 2012. To book, call 9288 0140 or email functions@palacehotelsydney.com.au
